Odysseus in the Odyssey

The story the Odyssey has been out for decades now. It’s a Greek myth, made by a man by the name of homer. The Odyssey is about, a man who had to leave his family to fight in war, but after he has won it became a cocky man, thinking he doesn’t need any one even the gods. Well one god by the name of Poseidon, the god of the sea, couldn’t tolerate his cockiness no more, and told him he would never see his land Ithaca ever again, and he would sail forever and ever. But through the story Odysseus was an intelligent, cunning, courageous, compassionate, faithful, arrogant, then at the end of the story became a humble man.
Odysseus was a strong man with allot of heart. He had to show his strengths when he had to leave his family to fight in the Trojan War. He left his wife Penelope and his son Telemachus, minutes after he birthed Telemachus. When he and his men went off to war he was also strong-minded, when his men wanted to run he made them go back and fight some more. He pretty much carried his men on his back which made him a strong man, because he had to think of everything. He was also strong when he visited a singing witch by the name of Circe who turned his men into animals, and he knew she did, but he still went to see her, and slept with her so that she could turn his man back into humans. Also when he went down to hell to meet Satin, he was strong because he went down by his self, so none of his men would die.
Odysseus showed intelligence and was cunning; his brain was filed with a lot of great thoughts. Like when Poseidon pushed his ship to an island where a giant was there by the name of Cyclops. He pushed them there so that the Cyclops could kill Odysseus. But Odysseus was way too clever; he got him and his men out by doing something very smart. What he did was gave the Cyclops some wine, which made him drunk and sleepy, and when he fell asleep, stuck a big stump in his eye, which made him blind. When they were escaping the cave they used the Cyclops sheep. They used the sheep by getting under them so that the Cyclops wouldn’t be able kill them, because the Cyclops isn’t going to kill his sheep.
Odysseus was compassionate and also faithful. He never forgot about his family especially his wife. He thought about them everywhere he went. Even after he slept with a witch on every island he went to, his heart was still given to Penelope. He even told the witches he had a wife. There was nothing that could get his family out of his head.
Odysseus was also arrogant, he was the king of Ithaca, and felt like no one was above him, even the gods. His cockiness lead them to a victory in the war, which made him feel like he didn’t need the gods, because of the victory. That’s what started him and Poseidon’s beef. Poseidon didn’t like Odysseus at all cause he was so arrogant, so he through a lot of bad things in his path. Like the Cyclops, but Odysseus manage to get past the Cyclops, and when he did he was very arrogant saying that no gods could stop him especially Poseidon. But he became humble, and figured out that he needed the gods, after Poseidon wouldn’t let him get back home to Ithaca.

A Raisin In The Sun -"Themes in Symbols"

Lorraine Hansberry's play "A Raisin In The Sun" is one of the best plays of all times. In the play "A Raisin In The Sun" it showed many symbols, and themes. Also shows what they've been through. They really struggled a lot. In the story they talked about the baby, beneatha, and the check. Thats what im going to be talking about in my essay.

Symbols:

In the story "A Raisin In The Sun" Beneatha showed symbols. She showed confidence, future, and hope. She symbolized confidence when she told everyone she was going to be a doctor. She also symbolized her future as being a doctor by going to school to pursue her future. Also hope was something she strongly believed in, because she hoped that guys would understand that girls could be an overachiever, and have bigger dreams than just cleaning up after men. She was a very strong woman who didn't care about nothing more than her own.

The baby in the story was also a symbol. Because the baby symbolized second chances, it symbolizes second chances because, Ruth was going to kill the baby but she thought otherwise. The baby also symbolized a new beginning, like as in a new life style that everyone would be living. Also the baby symbolized future, because when the baby gets older he would be the one living it. The baby symbolizes new responsibilities. Because when he's born that would be a big responsibility to the family.

The check is another symbol in the story. Because it symbolizes a new life for the family. Also the toil of mamas husbands hard work. The check symbolized Beneatha dreams, by getting her a good education to become a doctor. Also walters dreams, because the money would go into the liquor business he wanted. It also would make him the man of the house, because he would be bringing the money to the house, and providing the family with their needs.

So in the story " A Raisin In The Sun " it ended up being a good ending. Mama bought the family a house thats going to be travis house when he gets older. Also mama was proud of Walter, for being like his father when he was talking to Mr. Lidner. Mama also allowed Walter to become the man of the house, well at least let him feel like he was. But Ruth decided to keep the baby, which made Mama happy. Also Bennie "Beneatha", Still had the carriage to become the first black female doctor.

Inferences About The Devil And Tom Walker

                                                         The  Devil And Tom Walker

In the story,  "The Devil And Tom Walker" I can infer that, Tom was a small and stingy man, because the author directly told me that, when he said "he was a meager and miserly fellow. His wife is also stingy too, and very greedy, I know that because the author directly told me that when he said "he had a wife as miserly as himself". The author directly told me that Tom Walker was nosy when he stated "her husband was continually prying about to detect her secret hoards". The author directly told me that Tom wore the blouse around the house, when he stated "Tom's wife was a tall termagant, fierce of temper, loud of tongue, and strong of arm. her voice was often heard in wordy warfare with her husband; and his face sometimes showed signs that there conflicts were not confined to words". All this means she was tall, mean, strong, and loud, she also put her hands on him. The author also indirectly tells me that Tom was a brave fearless man when he stated "Tom Walker, however, was not a man to be troubled with any fears of the kind. I can infer that the black man is the devil, because the author says "it looks like he's been through fire", and Tom couldn't describe his face. The devil was also a slave dealer. The author stated he felt like he was above everyone when he said "I am the great patron and promoter of slave dealers, and the grand master of the salem witches.

Some morals in the story "The Devil In Tom Walker" are you shouldn't marry someone you don't love, or going to have to keep secrets from. Because marriage isn't about secrets and hate. Another moral is you shouldn't get yourself into something bad, like working with the devil. Also don't let peer pressure, pressure you, and don't go back to the bad things. Tom made a mistake when he got on the horse with the devil.

The Jungle Book

Jungle Book

Jungle book has always been one of my favorites and the moral of the story is friends are very important, because in the story and movie you find out that the boys friend is a bear, and a panther and they helped him along the way as he gets older and older, they also helped him  become a warrior. The reason why they were teaching him to become a warrior and a fighter is because he had to defeat a tiger that was going to destroy everything.
