A Raisin In The Sun -"Themes in Symbols"

Lorraine Hansberry's play "A Raisin In The Sun" is one of the best plays of all times. In the play "A Raisin In The Sun" it showed many symbols, and themes. Also shows what they've been through. They really struggled a lot. In the story they talked about the baby, beneatha, and the check. Thats what im going to be talking about in my essay.

Symbols:

In the story "A Raisin In The Sun" Beneatha showed symbols. She showed confidence, future, and hope. She symbolized confidence when she told everyone she was going to be a doctor. She also symbolized her future as being a doctor by going to school to pursue her future. Also hope was something she strongly believed in, because she hoped that guys would understand that girls could be an overachiever, and have bigger dreams than just cleaning up after men. She was a very strong woman who didn't care about nothing more than her own.

The baby in the story was also a symbol. Because the baby symbolized second chances, it symbolizes second chances because, Ruth was going to kill the baby but she thought otherwise. The baby also symbolized a new beginning, like as in a new life style that everyone would be living. Also the baby symbolized future, because when the baby gets older he would be the one living it. The baby symbolizes new responsibilities. Because when he's born that would be a big responsibility to the family.

The check is another symbol in the story. Because it symbolizes a new life for the family. Also the toil of mamas husbands hard work. The check symbolized Beneatha dreams, by getting her a good education to become a doctor. Also walters dreams, because the money would go into the liquor business he wanted. It also would make him the man of the house, because he would be bringing the money to the house, and providing the family with their needs.

So in the story " A Raisin In The Sun " it ended up being a good ending. Mama bought the family a house thats going to be travis house when he gets older. Also mama was proud of Walter, for being like his father when he was talking to Mr. Lidner. Mama also allowed Walter to become the man of the house, well at least let him feel like he was. But Ruth decided to keep the baby, which made Mama happy. Also Bennie "Beneatha", Still had the carriage to become the first black female doctor.
